It takes a socially transcendent moment to remind us what makes life worth living. Kanye West is a valuable member of society.
Hipster Runoff’s Carles:
It seems like this Kanyegate 3.0 moment will always be remembered as when tweens learned that it was ‘okay’ to treat celebrity entertainment like it was ‘real news’ instead of gradually learning sports+entertainment are more fun to consume than ‘important news’ over the course of their lives’.
It seems like if ppl really wanted to ’stop caring about the practice of turning the actions of rich+famous people into coverable news’, they would have embraced Kanye ‘taking a shit on this white girl.’
I’ve long since stopped reading every Hipster Runoff post, but I tune in when I have a feeling that there’s potential for a great post about a given buzz band or something that’s dominating the news, and when it comes to Kanye West’s actions at the VMAs last weekend, Carles has the best/my favorite/the most ‘meaningful’ commentary (am I doing it right?)
