So the esteemed Sarah Sprague linked to a story a little while ago, about an establishment in Miami that put together a Cadbury Creme Egg Old Fashioned. There’s not much to it: Bourbon, bitters, the creme from an egg. Combine, drink. It struck me as incredibly high risk / high reward; it was either going to be incredible or unspeakably foul. I could not resist. I picked up a couple of eggs, assembled as instructed, and I am happy to tell you it swings considerably closer to incredible than to the alternative. It’s way, way better than it has any right to be. It’s smooth, the flavors come together very well, and the whole thing is almost insidiously good. There’s something sinister about it – you added a bunch of candied goo to bourbon. It should be really foul, but it isn’t, and you get the sense that there’s some sort of dark magic involved, and that mixing up more than a few of these would lead to serious trouble.

I don’t have the guts to try this. Do you?
