Explode 16, “Thunderstorm”
In 2003 I wrote lyrics for a song that my friend Zhay composed (and performed) for a Songfight entry. It was, in part, an attempt to make up for the fact that I had half-assed the poetry portion of the creative writing class I took during my last semester of high school, a fact that had disappointed my teacher, who cared a lot about every one of his students and had always been really encouraging about my writing ability. I took a CD with this song back to his class the first time I visited home from college and gave it to him.
He retired this month after 41 years of teaching.
