Ian Bogost - Meh and the Mundane Sublime

What Netflix doesn’t support is a sense of “meh,” that term for indifference made meme by the Simpsons a decade ago. The Italians have their own version, “boh” (or sometimes “buh”), which means roughly the same thing, but has a rounder, more definitive sound to it.

This is a good thing. Have an opinion and then move on with your life– it’s your reaction to a movie stored in a database. It’s a single data point.

This article makes me mad. Bogost is usually a through-provoking writer, but the blossoming of “meh” as a valid response in any situation is one of the internet’s worst contributions to society.
