YouTube Music Team - Updates to artist channels & related subscriptions

for nearly 6 years I've received the same email from YouTube at seemingly random cadences. I've double-checked the headers and it does seem like the cause of SOME amount of the duplication is due to the fact that I technically have two linked accounts ("channels"?), one my pre-Google Account youtube account and the other my Google Account. But it still doesn't explain why they're announcing a 6-year-old feature. Is it that I'm following some old artist channels that have only been migrated more recently than the initial switchover, and the email doesn't mention which channel it is?

After the cut is the actual content of the email. Weirdly, sometimes the first paragraph "When you want to follow..." is omitted.

Hi music fans,

When you want to follow an artist on YouTube, sometimes you’ll find that they have multiple channels. So, which one should you subscribe to?

To make things simpler for fans, we worked with artists to unify their songs, albums and videos under one Official Artist Channel. Your artist subscriptions and notifications will soon move to Official Artist Channels and you'll be able to manage Official Artist Channel subscriptions like any other channel subscription. Your current secondary artist channel subscriptions will become inactive.

By giving you one artist channel to subscribe to, it will be easier for you to keep up with your favorite artists and their music! Learn more
