Last.fm’s Best of 2009
This is really cool. On the surface, last.fm’s list of the best music of 2009 is somewhat intriguing, because it’s based entirely on data collected from last.fm users. I don’t really use their music discovery radio-type features, just submit my listening data so that I can see it later, and I think a lot of people are in the same boat, so most of this data is our intentional music choices.
As a bonus, though, if you’re viewing the list while logged in, you get to see how your listening habits for each of these artists compared to the listening habits of the entire last.fm community. Were you ahead of the curve when it came to listening to, say, The xx’s fantastic debut album? (I wasn’t.) This is such a neat idea.
